Jay Daniels, gifted vocalist, pianist, musical historian, and story teller, thrilled the large audience at our Music on a Sunday Afternoon concert series. For 90 minutes, he turned the auditorium stage into Bemelman’s Bar at New York’s Carlyle. Bobby Short was smiling down. With a beautiful strong voice, whose range is remarkably wide, Mr. Daniels interpreted a variety of songs from the 1920’s through the present day, shifting effortlessly between genres such as soft jazz, swing, Broadway, folk, rock…all interlaced with personal and music history. The Friends of the Library will do our best to bring Mr. Daniels back. Bravo!
